Andrew Doyle seeks appointment as Ceann Comhairle
Fine Gael's Andrew Doyle is in the running for the role of Ceann Comhairle in the 32nd Dail. Although usually appointed by the Taoiseach, this time the position of Chair will be decided by secret ballot, due to take place on Thursday. If Doyle becomes Ceann Comahairle he will be automatically returned after the next general election.
Others who have shown interest are Independent TD Maureen O'Sullivan, Sinn Fein's Caoimhghin O'Caolain, Fianna Fail's Sean O'Fearghail and also John Deasy of Fine Gael.
